Ronald McDonald House Glasgow is a cherished facility which was conceived as a ‘home away from home’ to provide accommodation and support to the families of children being treated at the adjacent Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.

This project involved creating an additional family bedroom, further facilities and a new reception area and office. We carried out a variety of works such as joinery, decoration and M&E while creating the new accommodation area – nicknamed the ‘mythical creatures’ corridor – which now houses three bedrooms: the brand new family sized triple ‘Nessie’ suite; the reconfigured and refurbished ‘Dragon’ room; and the redecorated ‘Unicorn’ room. The creation of an extra bedroom allows even more families from across Scotland to stay together when they need to the most.

Families, House guests, staff and volunteers are now welcomed to Ronald McDonald House through a brand new warm and welcoming reception area with lounge.  Our manufacturing team created a variety of bespoke items in our 30,000 sq. ft. factory including the reception desk and slatted oak bulkhead; panelled reception feature wall with fireplace and seating; a children’s seating pod and headboards and bedroom casegoods – all of which were installed on site by us.

To enable this project to be undertaken successfully and deliver high quality, we formed temporary facilities including a secure entrance and an interview room, whilst keeping disruption to a minimum – especially given the sensitive work environment. Obviously some disruption, such as noise, was unavoidable but by building a strong relationship with the House team, communicating and providing voluntary assistance, including doing odd jobs for free, we handed over this project to a delighted client.
