Thomas Johnstone Ltd was appointed to carry out a high-quality refurbishment of the 4th floor dining and hospitality spaces at the prestigious Old Course Hotel in St Andrews. The works centred on the Road Hole Restaurant and Bar, as well as the adjoining boardroom, corridors, gallery, and toilet areas.

Working within a live, five-star hotel environment, the project required careful planning, phasing, and communication to minimise disruption to guests and staff. Our Fit-Out team led the programme, coordinating with the client, consultants, and subcontractors. As a result, we ensured the project was completed efficiently and to the exacting standards expected.
Throughout the project, our Decorating division played a key role in transforming and refreshing the interiors with expert finishes and attention to detail. From French polishing heritage items to delivering flawless wall finishes, their craftsmanship was central to the quality of the final result.
Our Manufacturing division also contributed significantly to the project. We crafted bespoke joinery items crafted specifically for the space, including custom seating, tables and waiter stations. Their ability to provide tailored solutions added real value to the project.

“Working with Thomas Johnstone Ltd was a great experience. Despite the complexities of the project and evolving scope, the team delivered a high-quality finish on time, with honesty, flexibility, and clear communication from site level to senior leadership. I’d gladly work with the same team again.”
