After commencing on site to undertake a smaller package of works to the existing India Buildings on Victoria Street, our site team made such an impression on the client and their design team that we were asked to take on bigger and more complex packages: leading to us becoming the Main Contractor for the project.
The extensive development has brought the first Virgin Hotel outside of the US to the heart of Edinburgh. A massive undertaking, the hotel is made up of 5 separate blocks. Works carried out by our site team include the refurbishment of existing listed buildings including the India buildings on Victoria Street and Cowgatehead church to create guest rooms and suites, public areas, function and meeting space. Our team also completed the construction of a new build extension on the Cowgate which holds the majority of the hotel’s 222 guest rooms (called Chambers by the brand).
Our 30,000 sq. ft. factory produced extensive manufactured joinery elements for the project. Standard items including bedside tables, wardrobes, sink surrounds, barn doors, vanity units and bar cart shelves were made for each of the 222 guest Chambers and a number of bespoke pieces for the public areas were also created.
The hotel opened in 2022 and has been the recipient of numerous industry and design awards.
