Not every project that comes through our Manufactured Joinery facility involves making new items. Our specialist team also completes refurbishment and restoration projects for various clients.

Recently, our team undertook a restoration project for a private client: they restored this unique gate with a ship’s wheel at its centre. Our Joiners replaced the old, rotten timber with a new frame and secured the ship’s wheel with internal brass rods.

Our French polishers then got to work removing the old varnish from the wheel and sanding and filling any chips while protecting the original brass inlay. They then stained the gate with dark rosewood and finished it with high-gloss varnish to protect it from the elements.

Having been restored to its former glory, this gate can now be enjoyed for many years to come.
