Thomas Johnstone Ltd | Community Impact at DIY SOS Glasgow

We recently took part in the DIY SOS Glasgow build—an inspiring project with real community impact.

Led by BBC’s DIY SOS team, the goal was simple: support a local family facing extraordinary challenges. Over the course of the build, trades and volunteers came together to create a space that better suits the family’s needs. It was emotional, uplifting, and an unforgettable moment for everyone involved.

Community is at the heart of what we do at Thomas Johnstone Ltd. That’s why it meant so much for us to contribute—both on and off site.

One of our bench hand joiners, Andy, worked tirelessly onsite for eight days. His dedication was unmatched, with 15-hour shifts and a final late night to ensure everything was ready. He didn’t leave the site until 2am on reveal day.

Meanwhile, our workshop team was hard at work behind the scenes. They manufactured key bespoke items in time for installation. Although we can’t yet share exactly what we made, the full reveal will air later this year.

We’d also like to thank a few of our trusted supply chain partners. Special thanks to Häfele UK Ltd,  Scott Paints, and Rhino Express. Your support helped make this possible.

This project showed the true power of teamwork and generosity. From skilled trades to local volunteers, it was a shared effort—and one that will make a lasting difference.

At Thomas Johnstone Ltd, we’re proud to have played our part. Projects like this remind us why we do what we do.
