Guidis Airdrie Update

Guidis update: steady progress continues at Airdrie’s much-loved Italian restaurant.

The roof is nearing completion, crafted from high-quality Spanish slate. This material offers lasting strength and a refined appearance. Its look echoes traditional Scottish slate but delivers a more consistent finish. Backed by a 100-year guarantee, it promises a roof designed to last. The roof’s complex shape required detailed, precise joinery, much of it hidden, demanding careful craftsmanship to achieve the desired look.

Another visible difference in the project is the progression of stonework. The stone masons have now built several stone piers, and the brickworkers are filling in the spaces between them. The natural stone we’re using is a dense, high-strength, non-combustible material (Class A1 fire rated), providing excellent structural integrity and inherent fire resistance. In addition, we’re reinforcing the existing retaining wall. Once this part of the project is completed, we will be able to prepare the area for the new customer car park.

Moreover, significant progress has been made with power infrastructure. Both low-voltage and high-voltage cables now run underground from the street to the substation and into the building. Installing these systems required careful coordination, temporarily dividing the site, but marked an essential milestone in delivery.

Each stage reflects our commitment to meticulous craftsmanship, considered execution, and dependable delivery. The quality of work, both visible and concealed, upholds the standards synonymous with Thomas Johnstone Ltd.
