We were appointed as Principal Contractor on this high profile project for BAA after the success of Phase II at Glasgow Airport. The project was carried out in three separate areas within a fully operational airport environment:

• Following the demolition of the old Domestic Search Area, a new passenger corridor and restaurant were formed.
• The International Search Area was demolished to make way for ten linked retail units and an increased public circulation space within the International Departure Lounge.
• Finally, the North Mall was given a face lift by the means of adding new bulkheads to conceal exposed services; a series of aluminium and fabric ‘fins’; and an enhanced lighting scheme.

Additional levels of complexity were added to this already challenging project including: heightened security requirements for “airside” operations and significant levels of public occupation during the project.
