We crafted bespoke Manufactured Joinery for Ardbeg House for the hotel’s 12 suites and public spaces. We worked on a wide range of pieces, including headboards.

For the Illicit Suite, we crafted a rustic-style headboard using reclaimed scaffold boards. In contrast, the Smoke Suite showcases a strikingly different design, with a headboard upholstered in leather and finished in a herringbone pattern. Another standout is the Creation Suite, where we combined resin and timber fragments to form a mosaic-style headboard that beautifully echoes the suite’s name.

Bespoke minibars

We crafted each bespoke minibar for Ardbeg House with a distinct character and finish. For the Wild Suite, we built a rounded oak unit, applied a silver finish in our Paint Shop, and then collaborated with a local artist to cover it in vibrant Gaelic words. In the Rebel Suite, we achieved a distressed look by hand-beating the minibar with a chain. For the Creation Suite, we produced a striking piece with pyramid mouldings and completed it with a metallic finish in our Paint Shop. Every minibar showcased our expertise – combining skill, precision, and creativity to deliver unique designs with flawless execution.

The en-suite mirrors were another highlight. Each one followed a unique design, with several requiring our joiners to shape the wood by hand – using chisels, sanding belts, and a steady focus to achieve the precise finish.

We also built wardrobes for most of the suites at Ardbeg House, tailoring each piece to its space. No two were alike: one was finished with decoupage by a local artist, another upholstered in leather, and another clad in metal. In addition, we incorporated a hidden feature into every wardrobe – a custom box designed to hold Ardbeg whisky bottles.

For the Islay bar, we crafted a variety of bespoke pieces, including a reception bottle display unit, a bar and back-gantry, a waiter station and a fire table. In addition, we manufactured a boat-shaped light feature, which now hangs above the space. Each piece is uniquely designed to reflect the character of the beautiful island.

Ardbeg House and Russel Sage Studio really took bespoke design to a new level. We’re proud to have contributed to the transformation of this iconic hotel not only as main contractors, but also with our bespoke manufactured joinery.
