Completed in September 2012 the work was part of a £17m rebrand as the first Waldorf Astoria in Scotland. The fifth floor level had roof propped and load bearing walls removed to open up the space then 20 new five star bedrooms and ensuites were formed and completed, including new fire sprinkler, smart cabling and air conditioning.
Due to the progress of the 5th floor works, the client instructed a refit of a further 87 bedrooms which were finished within the same timescale.
As a result of the finish to the new bedroom works we were appointed as contractor for the strip-out, fit-out and extension to the Hotels Spa. This included piled foundations, steel frame with a traditional Code 6 lead lapped roof. The project was completed on time despite challenging ground conditions, demanding timescale and restricted site space.
