This complex site, formerly a mental health institution and blood bank, had lain dormant for eight years and subsequently required significant structural repairs, stonework restoration, timber treatments, lead and slate roof works, and the conservation of listed building aspects prior to any new works being undertaken.
Working closely with the client and their extended design team, we overcame the numerous challenges presented by this tight, restricted access site, to meet the exacting standards required of such an established company.
This project comprised of the restoration and refurbishment of the existing structure and the addition of a substantial extension to form a 47 bedroom boutique hotel with bistro, bar, wine tasting facilities and whisky snug. Extensive excavations were also undertaken to form appropriate basement parking facilities.
