National Galleries of Scotland

This project entailed the replacement of roof lights and internal refurbishment works.

Works at the galleries involved the removal of existing roof lights and the installation of new aluminium framed roof lights. The supply and fit of new internal electric blind system. Internal decoration to the plasterwork around the roof light and cornice. New roof lights and roofing works meant external and internal scaffolding and the spaces were redecorated, floored and altered as appropriate, behind hoardings keeping the galleries in operation.

The internal works included the removal and replacement of existing fabric wall coverings to gallery walls and replacement of carpet tiles to gallery floors. We also installed new wi-fi points throughout the galleries.

The initially proposed phasing of the works changed to better accommodate the galleries operations and relocation of artworks, with the construction works shuffling accordingly. The Client has been so delighted with our input as part of the team in phase 1 that they have negotiated phase 2 which is about to start.
