“We have completed many refurbishment projects over the years, and this was our first time working with Thomas Johnstone Limited. We remained a fully functional business while the project was being completed and the potential impact to our guests was always a concern. Regarding the quality of team members, we couldn’t ask for more, discreet, professional, and fully respectful of our operating standards. In terms of the project, communication has been faultless, and the team absolutely adhered to what they said they were going to do by when, within the budget agreed. Finally, surprisingly, any sub-contractor employed by TJs, deserved the same praise, handpicked! We now have a completed beautiful hotel lobby bar/lounge and possible future projects with TJs in discussion.”
The refurbishment of Hotel Indigo Dundee, led by our Small Works division, highlights our ability to renovate while keeping the hotel operational. This phased project minimised disruption and maintained high service standards throughout.
We transformed the ground floor, formerly office space and reception, into the sophisticated Eighteen22 bar, honouring the building’s opening year. The project began with demolition, followed by collaborative efforts from our Small Works, Manufactured Joinery, and Decorating divisions.
The new bar features a bespoke oak veneered design with a Caesarstone top and metal back gantry, blending modern aesthetics with historic charm. A snug area was also created, offering a cosy space for guests. The project included expert flooring installation, lighting, and high-quality paint and wallpapering, ensuring a cohesive and inviting atmosphere.
This successful Hotel Indigo Dundee refurbishment not only showcases our expertise in hospitality renovations but also our ability to seamlessly integrate trades and coordinate carefully to maintain hotel operations during the project.
