Our Small Works division recently completed the refurbishment of an ‘A’ Listed townhouse in Edinburgh’s 8 Charlotte Square: part of The Charlotte Square Collection.
Charlotte Square is made up of historic townhouses that were built in the 1800s around a private garden and were one of the city’s most affluent areas. As a focal point within the UNESCO World Heritage Site, we have carried out refurbishment works in several of the buildings within The Charlotte Square Collection, which is located within the UNESCO World Heritage Site. In addition to this project, we have recently completed projects within 19, 20-23 and 24-25 Charlotte Square.
Working within listed properties requires careful planning and execution to ensure that historic elements of the building are retained while updates are being carried out. We work closely with all project team members to ensure that all necessary works are carried out sympathetically to the building’s original features.
The office refurbishment took place throughout the building’s six floors. We created a total of 5,232 sq. ft. of new office accommodation. In addition, our Small Works team carried out works including structural alterations, external fabric repairs, flooring and decoration.
Luxury French designer Chanel hosted several pop-ups in the elegant rooms of No. 8 Charlotte Square in 2024.
