Space Project, Glasgow Airport

This project consisted of significant airside works with Glasgow Airport for the Space Project from demolition, foundations, structural steel and concrete floors through to full fit-out.

The works involved the demolition of an existing ticket office and retail units. Forming new retail units comprising new structural steelwork, metal decking, reinforced concrete slabs, fire rated perimeter compartment partitions and all internal finishes and services.

Further retail units were demolished to make space for increased circulation and seating areas comprising new secondary steelwork framing, plasterboard partitions with laminate wall panelled cladding, bespoke metal plank ceiling with associated sprinkler/lighting/fire alarm/PA and ventilation services and finally new tiled floor finishes.

All works were carried out on a phased basis using a mixture of dayshift/nightshift working to keep the areas of the airport operational at all times.

Finally a lighting system was developed and installed to provide maintainable feature lighting to the original barrel vaulted ceiling.
