Working for one of the UK’s leading urban chic retails, we conducted a programme of works to transform an iconic hardware and ironmongery stores into a quirky and unique retail concept.
Following the general downtakings (including the protection and preservation of existing features) a number of structural alterations were carried out; a large glazed skylight and atrium at the centre of the premises with openings at ground, first, second and roof level, a structural support for a feature tree at basement level, and an enlarged lift pit.
Numerous custom items were developed, manufactured and installed to convey the desired theme and atmosphere. These include a sweet store cash and wrap, multi themed Narnia-style changing rooms, and reproduction balustrades.
The overall result is highly productive, large, open and airy retail unit with a strong retained department store feel.
