Project Completion: New Learning Hub for Harmeny Education Trust

Following the completion of this new Learning Hub for Harmeny Education Trust in late 2023, Thomas Johnstone Ltd has released the first images of the new-build structure.

Won via competitive tender, TJL was chosen to construct a new space that allowed the Trust to extend its capacity to help support young people from ages 14-18.  Before the new building was constructed, children had to leave Harmeny and the environment they had grown comfortable in when they turned 14. This was a disruptive experience, occurring at a crucial stage of a young person’s learning journey.

The new Outdoor Learning Hub means that Harmeny can now be there for children up to 18 if they need it. TJL is extremely proud to have been the main contractor for this project and is excited to see the Outdoor Learning Hub have a positive impact on Harmeny’s young people for many years to come.

The images below show the beautiful European Larch and Forum Smoked Branco brick exterior of the Learning Hub, designed by Glasgow-based architects Loader Monteith with Studio SJM. The interior reflects the natural surroundings of the building with elements such as hardwood counters, produced by our in-house Manufactured Joinery division, and a soft green and neutral colour palette, which was developed by workshops held with staff and students, was chosen for its calming effect.
