Guidi’s Airdrie Revival by TJL Begins

The Guidi’s Airdrie revival is officially underway with Thomas Johnstone Ltd (TJL) appointed as the main contractor. Following the fire that destroyed the beloved Guidi’s restaurant in 2021, work has now begun to rebuild the site. During the project, we will not only restore the iconic restaurant but will also feature a Capocci Man gelateria and deli, bringing together two of Airdrie’s most cherished Italian institutions.

Construction, Fit-Out and Craftsmanship in One

TJL’s work on Guidi’s Airdrie revival covers construction, specialist fit-out, decorating, and bespoke joinery. We’ll deliver these services by our integrated teams and 30,000 sq. ft. joinery workshop. As a result, this approach ensures quality, coordination, and efficiency throughout the project.

The interior will reflect Mediterranean design with timber beams, brickwork, and classic wood finishes. In addition, TJL is crafting all fixed joinery in-house, including the bar, deli counter, wall panels, and seating.

Campbell Ross, Regional Construction Director at Thomas Johnstone Ltd, said:
“Guidi’s holds a special place in the town’s history, and we are honoured to be entrusted with its reinstatement. Delivering excellence is at the heart of everything we do at Thomas Johnstone Ltd, and we are excited to apply our expertise across building, specialist fit-out and manufactured joinery to create a venue that will once again be a cornerstone of the Lanarkshire community.”

Rebuilding a Local Landmark

TJL is working alongside the Guidi family and a trusted design team, including Inkdesign Architecture and McColm Civil & Structural Engineers. Our appointment reflects confidence in our ability to deliver complex hospitality builds on time and budget.

With the Guidi’s Airdrie revival now in progress, Thomas Johnstone Ltd is proud to help bring this Lanarkshire institution back to life. The new restaurant is expected to open in 2026.
