Our first apprentice Ryan is completing the final year of his Carpentry and Joinery Apprenticeship in our Small Works Division and has thoroughly enjoyed the last four years of learning and development. Ryan is a passionate individual who has built up a wealth of knowledge during his time at TJL, which confirms that he made the right decision when choosing the path of an apprenticeship.
"I knew about the successes of TJL and the brilliant work they do so when the apprenticeship opportunity came up I felt it was something I really wanted to go for and the experience has not disappointed."
Meet TJL’s TIGERS Jamie and Sean, two enthusiastic teenagers who have been welcomed into the factory for eight weeks of hands on work experience. Both Jamie and Sean left school at the age of 15 in search of further opportunities at college and from this they found TIGERS LTD- a Scottish Training Provider who specialise in preparing young people aged 16-24 for entry into industries such as construction.
Over the next two months the boys will follow a clear training schedule which will see them circulating around the factory developing their overall understanding of manufacturing as well as honing their specific areas of interest such as painting and decorating and manufactured joinery. During their journey we’ll be learning about Jamie and Sean’s progress and the skills they are developing during their experience so stay tuned!
Another extremely rewarding day for our team as we presented a cheque of £1,500 to Ronald McDonald House Glasgow after the success of our annual TJL Christmas Raffle during the festive period. The kind donations from our employees and suppliers along with the hard work of Joanne Lang, our Head Buyer, ensured we were able to donate to this admirable charity. With 1 overnight stay for a family costing Ronald McDonald House £40, this donation will help to fund more than a month's worth of accommodation.
We have recently completed an extension at Ronald McDonald House Glasgow which has created a new reception area, as seen in the photos, along with an additional bedroom and more leisure space. Ronald McDonald House Glasgow has been a wonderful project which we are extremely proud of and hopefully this donation will only help to further develop the services and amenities offered by the house.
During the festive period last year our team undertook the annual TJL Christmas Jumper Day in aid of Beatson Cancer Charity which supports people affected by cancer, every step of the way.
Our employees put their baking skills to the test and raised an impressive £500 which was awarded to the charity to ensure they can continue to provide such an excellent service to those in need.
Well done to the TJL team!
