Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2018: New Apprentices

There is no better time than Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2018 to announce some new additions to our team: 2 Apprentice Bench Hand Joiners and a Paint Shop Apprentice.

In February we advertised a number of apprenticeship positions, and we are delighted to now have 3 new members of our manufacturing team who will complete their apprenticeships whilst gaining invaluable work experience.  They will be working closely with other employees who can inspire them, including our Manufacturing Manager - who himself is a former apprentice - and a number of existing and former apprentices who are part of our very busy and successful manufacturing team.

We are pleased that we have been able to give an apprentice impacted by the recent Carillion issues another chance; retaining future talent for the industry and securing this apprentice's bright future.

Update - Weather/Travel Alerts

A further statement regarding the current weather/travel alerts was issued by the Joint MD at 10:19am on Thursday 1st March 2018

Dear Colleagues,

You will be aware from the media that the red alert has been downgraded to amber and this will be in place until 6pm in some areas of the country, again please only travel if you feel that it is safe to do so.

Hopefully the situation will be back to some sort of normality tomorrow for the vast majority and we can all return to work.

Again we would be grateful if you could pass this on to as many people as possible.

Please do not hesitate to contact a member of the management team should you have any queries.

Red Weather Alert Update

Important Notice: Red Weather Alert

Dear Colleagues,

Given today's poor weather and the continued “red travel alert” in place until 10am tomorrow, we would ask that all staff and operatives in these affected areas do not travel to work in the morning. Once this level of alert has been lifted please only travel after then if you feel that it is safe to do so.

We will review the situation as the day goes on and update thereafter.

Not all colleagues, sub-contractors and personnel will receive this message and we would appreciate if you could pass this on to as many as possible.

Please do not hesitate to contact a member of the management team should you have any queries.

Stay safe!

£2,100 Raised for Good Causes

The TJL team’s festive activities raised a fantastic amount for 3 local charities.

On Friday 15th December 2017, employees from our offices and sites wore their festive sweaters and held a bake sale in support of Erskine. Our Christmas Jumper Day raised £600 for the excellent charity which was gratefully received.

Our Senior Buyer Joanne organises a Christmas charity raffle every year, with prizes donated by our very generous suppliers and contacts. The 2017 raffle raised £1,500 which was split between two very deserving hospices – Ardgowan Hospice and St. Margaret of Scotland Hospice.

Thank you to all of our employees who were involved in the fundraising efforts, and to our kind suppliers and contacts who donated a large number of fantastic prizes for the raffle.
