Edinburgh Aiport 'Shining Star' Award
TJL have recently completed the complex fit-out of the new British Airways Executive Lounge at Edinburgh Airport where the Turner and Townsend Project Manager was “impressed by Thomas Johnstone’s solution orientated approach” and at BA’s opening ceremony it was stated that TJL should now become Strategic Partners to BA.
Success at Edinburgh follows ongoing design development work with BA and Graven Images to develop different prototype wall, food island and drink unit fitments for the next generation lounges.
One type of wall fitment was developed and manufactured in TJLs workshop next to Glasgow Airport, then exported and fitted in Cape Town for further trial and assessment with another wall prototype fitted in the new Edinburgh lounge.
Any live Airport environment creates additional construction issues, however there were unforeseen challenges that were fundamental and critical to the success of the project where TJL excelled, pulling the wider team together and finding a route to success.
Such was TJL’s outstanding contribution that Project Manager, Gordon Cameron was nominated for an Edinburgh Airport Ltd ‘Shining Star’ Award by the BAA Head of Project Delivery, Ian Lang, to formally recognise his commitment, leadership and success in critical problem solving. Gordon was delighted to receive his ‘Shining Star’ Award, which we believe is the first ever awarded to a non-BAA employee.
